Thomas Harley fired a shot from the blue line with just 4.8 seconds left, breaking a tie and securing a dramatic 4-3 win for the Dallas Stars over the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night.

Dallas had built a two-goal cushion heading into the third period, but New Jersey stormed back to even the score before Harley’s late heroics sealed the victory.

Roope Hintz led the Stars’ offense with a goal and two assists, helping Dallas notch its 11th win in 14 games as they chase division leader Winnipeg. Hintz now has three goals and 11 assists over his past five outings.

Wyatt Johnston followed up his recent hat trick with an unassisted goal, while Ilya Lyubushkin notched his first of the season. Jason Robertson chipped in with two assists.

Timo Meier, Nico Hischier, and Brett Pesce found the net on special teams for the Devils. Meier and Hischier struck on the power play, while Pesce tied the game with just over four minutes remaining during a delayed penalty with New Jersey skating 6-on-5.

Casey DeSmith made 25 saves to earn his 11th win as Jake Oettinger’s backup, while Jacob Markstrom, in just his second game back from a five-week absence due to a knee injury, stopped 17 shots for the Devils.

Takeaways

Devils: New Jersey showed resilience, erasing a two-goal deficit in the final period despite missing top scorer Jack Hughes, who suffered a right arm and shoulder injury in their previous game against Vegas.

Stars: After converting all four power plays in their previous 6-3 win over St. Louis, Dallas struggled on the man advantage, going just 1-for-5. Hintz capitalized 12 seconds into a 5-on-3 to give Dallas a 3-1 lead late in the second.

Key Moment

During the second period, as Dallas finished up a power play, Devils goaltender DeSmith made a crucial save on a Brenden Dillon breakaway right out of the penalty box, preventing the Stars from extending their lead at the time.

Key Stat

Hintz came just one point shy of becoming the first player in franchise history to record four points in three consecutive games.
