The New Jersey Devils have signed forward Arseniy Gritsyuk to a one-year, entry-level contract beginning with the 2025-26 NHL season, adding a dynamic offensive talent to their roster. Gritsyuk, 24, arrives after a breakout campaign with SKA St. Petersburg in the KHL. He recorded 44 points (17 goals, 27 assists) in 49 games this past season, finishing among the team’s top five in goals, assists, and points. He also contributed five points in six playoff games, tying for the team lead.

Since being drafted by New Jersey in the fifth round in 2019, Gritsyuk has steadily developed his game in Russia, highlighted by a KHL Rookie of the Year award in 2022 and a silver medal with Russia at the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Gritsyuk’s skillset makes him an intriguing addition for the Devils. He comes in at 6 feet tall and weighing 195 pounds. He is known for his high-end puck skills, above-average skating, and the ability to create offense both as a scorer and playmaker. His shot is a threat from most areas of the offensive zone, and he has become a consistent power-play weapon in the KHL.

Scouts note his quick first step, slick puckhandling, and strong hockey IQ, which allow him to be effective in transition and maintain possession under pressure. On the other side of the puck, Gritsyuk has improved his defensive game and work ethic away from the puck.

While Gritsyuk’s offensive upside is clear, his ability to adapt to the smaller North American ice and the physical demands of the NHL will be key to his immediate impact. The Devils’ have shown a patient approach to his development and they hope it pays off as he transitions to the NHL.

Gritsyuk projects as a valuable middle-six winger with the potential to grow into a top-six role, providing New Jersey with additional skill, speed, and scoring depth.
