Morgan Geekie scored his 22nd goal of the season, and Jeremy Swayman turned aside 29 shots, lifting the Boston Bruins to a 4–1 win over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night and extending New Jersey’s losing streak to a season-worst five games.

Boston also got goals from Fraser Minten, Casey Mittelstadt, and Andrew Peeke. Elias Lindholm assisted on Geekie’s tally early in the second period, helping the 25-year-old forward extend his point streak to five games (5 goals, 4 assists). Geekie now ranks second in the NHL in goals, trailing only Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon.

The Bruins earned the victory despite missing star winger David Pastrnak for a fifth consecutive game due to an undisclosed injury.

Swayman Bounces Back Strong

After being pulled in his previous start for surrendering five goals in Detroit, Swayman delivered a calm, composed rebound performance. Even though Boston was outshot 30–21, he preserved a 2–1 lead entering the third period and made several key stops, including a sharp pad save on Connor Brown with under five minutes remaining.

Boston has now won back-to-back games after alternating wins and losses over its prior seven outings.

Devils’ Struggles Continue

Timo Meier scored New Jersey’s lone goal late in the first period, breaking the Devils’ two-game scoring drought. Jake Allen made 17 saves but New Jersey couldn’t generate enough offense to keep pace.

The Devils (now on a five-game skid) tied the game 1–1 briefly, but the Bruins reclaimed momentum quickly and never relinquished it.

How the Game Unfolded

  • 1st Period: Minten opened the scoring at 17:42 on a one-timer, but Meier responded less than a minute later.

  • 2nd Period: Lindholm intercepted a clearing attempt and fed Geekie for a one-timed finish just 1:12 into the period, giving Boston a 2–1 lead.

  • 3rd Period: Mittelstadt extended the advantage with 3:35 remaining, and Peeke sealed it with an empty-netter.
