Cody Glass made an immediate impact in his first game with the New Jersey Devils, scoring a goal to help his new team secure a 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday.

Acquired from Pittsburgh at Friday’s trade deadline, Glass wasted no time making his presence felt, firing a wrist shot past Flyers goaltender Ivan Fedotov at 11:10 of the first period to put the Devils ahead early.

Goaltender Jake Allen turned aside 23 shots for his 10th win of the season, making several clutch saves, including a point-blank stop on Bobby Brink during a crucial Flyers power play late in the third period.

Erik Haula extended New Jersey’s lead with a second-period goal, while Dawson Mercer sealed the win with an empty-net tally. The victory snapped a three-game skid for the Devils.

Jamie Drysdale provided the lone goal for Philadelphia, and Fedotov made 20 saves in the loss. The Flyers have now lost four straight home games and have struggled offensively, scoring two goals or fewer in eight of their last 14 contests.

Takeaways

Devils: With multiple players sidelined due to injuries, New Jersey took a more physical approach against the Flyers, out-hitting them 18-12. Nathan Bastian led the charge with four hits.

Flyers: Defenseman Cam York returned to the lineup after being a healthy scratch on Saturday. He logged the third-most ice time for Philadelphia but finished with a minus-1 rating.

Key Moment

Glass capitalized on a defensive lapse by Flyers rookie Matvei Michkov, who failed to backcheck properly on the play. The mistake drew the ire of Flyers coach John Tortorella, who benched Michkov for the remainder of the first period.

Key Stat

New Jersey dominated the faceoff circle, winning 63% of their draws (25 total), allowing them to control possession and dictate the pace of play.
