Owen Tippett and Matvei Michkov each scored twice as the Philadelphia Flyers handed the New Jersey Devils their first home loss of the season with a 5–3 victory on Saturday night.
Tippett broke an eight-game goal drought while adding an assist, and Michkov struck twice in the second period as Philadelphia built a commanding 4–1 lead. Trevor Zegras added a goal, and Travis Konecny tallied two assists.
The Flyers’ defensive effort stood out against one of the NHL’s top offensive teams. Philadelphia blocked 23 shots, with Nick Seeler leading the way with five. Dan Vladar made 29 saves, earning his 10th win of the year as the Flyers extended their road winning streak to three straight.
For New Jersey, Dawson Mercer registered a goal and an assist, while Simon Nemec and Timo Meier also found the back of the net. Nemec’s goal gave him six in November, making him just the fifth defenseman in franchise history to reach that mark in a single calendar month. Jesper Bratt chipped in two assists, and Nico Hischier extended his scoring tear with his 10th point in five games.
Meier’s ninth goal of the season — and fourth in the last five contests — wasn’t enough to overcome the early deficit. Jacob Markstrom finished with 27 saves for New Jersey, which fell to 9-1-1 at home.
