Jesper Bratt scored the lone goal in the shootout to lift the New Jersey Devils to a 2–1 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday night.

Vegas couldn’t solve the shootout, as Pavel Dorofeyev, Mark Stone, and Mitch Marner all came up empty. Marner appeared to score, but the attempt was overturned when the puck deflected off his skate after the shot.

Connor Brown supplied New Jersey’s regulation goal, while Jake Allen turned in a stellar performance with 37 saves. Dorofeyev scored the lone goal for Vegas, and Carter Hart stopped 32 shots in the loss.

The Golden Knights were forced beyond regulation for the 14th time in 32 games. They finished 1-for-4 on the power play, including a missed chance in overtime. The Devils also struggled with the man advantage, going 0-for-2 and extending a rough stretch to just 1 goal on 18 power plays over their last eight games.

Despite the loss, Vegas earned a point and moved into a tie for first place in the Pacific Division with Anaheim.

New Jersey opened the scoring after capitalizing on a Vegas turnover. Brown scooped up the loose puck, cut through the crease, and wrapped it around a sprawling Hart to make it 1–0.

Vegas tied the game late in regulation on a power-play tally by Dorofeyev, his second straight game with a man-advantage goal and his ninth of the season.

The Golden Knights were without key contributors Jack Eichel and Shea Theodore, while the Devils continue to play short-handed with several regulars sidelined, including Jack Hughes.
