Cody Glass delivered a standout performance with two goals and an assist, and rookie Lenni Hameenaho netted his first NHL goal as the New Jersey Devils held off the Vancouver Canucks 5-4 on Friday night.

The win extended New Jersey’s Western Canada run to three straight victories. Nico Hischier and Connor Brown also scored for the Devils, while Jacob Markstrom turned aside 21 shots.

Vancouver got goals from Linus Karlsson, Teddy Blueger, Zeev Buium, and Brock Boeser. Kevin Lankinen finished with 19 saves in net for the Canucks.

New Jersey capitalized on special teams, converting twice on three power-play chances. Vancouver, meanwhile, came up empty on two opportunities and has now gone four games without a power-play goal.

Hameenaho opened the scoring early, tapping in a rebound from the crease 1:41 into the first period. The Devils widened the gap in the second when Hischier and Glass struck just 40 seconds apart to make it 3-0.

Karlsson finally got Vancouver on the board midway through the period, but while Conor Garland served a double minor for high-sticking Hischier, Blueger scored short-handed. Brown answered moments later to restore New Jersey’s three-goal cushion.

Buium’s late second-period goal trimmed the deficit to 4-3, giving the Canucks momentum heading into the third. Glass added his second of the night in the final frame, proving to be the difference.

Boeser scored with 1:12 left as Lankinen was pulled for an extra skater, but the Devils held on to secure the victory.
