Linus Ullmark delivered a strong performance in his return to the crease, stopping 26 shots as the Ottawa Senators defeated the New Jersey Devils 4-1 on Saturday night.
Playing his first game since stepping away from the team in late December, Ullmark helped Ottawa extend its winning streak to three games. Brady Tkachuk led the way offensively with a goal and two assists, while Tim Stützle chipped in a goal and an assist. Dylan Cozens added a milestone marker, scoring the 100th goal of his NHL career on the power play.
Timo Meier accounted for New Jersey’s lone goal, and Jake Allen turned aside 30 shots in a busy night for the Devils, who have dropped three of their last four contests. New Jersey was also without star center Jack Hughes, sidelined day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
Ottawa controlled much of the game behind Ullmark’s steady goaltending and timely scoring, continuing its recent surge in the standings.
